By the early `80s, roots bands were becoming an expiring lot, but The Gladiators continued to release excellent albums on various U.S. labels. They continued recording high-quality albums through the `90s. Even the departure of Fearon during this period could not extinguish The Gladiators' spirit or Griffiths' drive. Like The Wailers, The Gladiators are one of the very few reggae bands to not only survive but succeed over the decades despite changes in members, and maintain their unique sound and message. They are one of the rare Jamaican groups that are actually a band in the true sense of the word and have a distinct style that shines forth regardless of the circumstances. Griffiths' lyrics, filled with biblical passages and parables, are equally notable.

This concert was performed on 1997-06-24 in the Brooklyn Academy, NYC. Although this was an Unplugged concert, Jewel used several amplifier to boost up her voice. It's unclear if her voice only got boosted like the Unplugged concert would prescribe or was manipulated.

Ian Sippen set up his quality equipment to record Cream. Unfortunately the left mike failed and the recording is dominated by the guitar and the drums. The loss of bass is partially compensated for by the magnificent, very present sound of the drums. Jack’s vocals are largely heard by direct acoustics rather then through the PA. "NSU" is hesitant as they try to sort out the gear on the fly with the PA dropping out and the guitar amps being adjusted. "Sunshine" follows and is no better with: Eric starting way too fast and pulling back, Eric & Ginger struggling to hear Jack’s vocals and Ginger laying down a very basic beat – one can see him glowering at the roadies as they desperately tried to sort things out. Eric tells the audience to quietn down before they perfoym a quite superb "We’re Going Wrong". It really worked quite well live once they had got it sorted out. The longer gestation time definitely helped with this one. A short "Stepping Out" is performed but with amp problems for Eric followed by "Rollin’ & Tumblin" with a just audible harp (well the drums are nice and clear!). Obviously it is "Toad" that benefits with the very audible drums. It is comparatively short - Baker clearly didn’t want to hang about. "I’m So Glad closes the set but by this time Eric’s Marshall is really breaking up and he just manages to finish before it totally cracks up Remastered Quality: This is a severely flawed audience recording (not a soundboard as claimed by the commercial bootleggers!). It lacks bass and has just audible vocals. Bass has been boosted to a level of prescence but hardly clear and nothing could be done about the vocals. The good quality tape recording needed minimal filtering but some editing of extraneous mike/electrical noises. The drums are magnificently clear (and very live sounding) as is the guitar.

Damien's infamous birthday gig, the first of a 3 night slot with the full band in the Olympia. Guest appearances by Terry Sutton & Declan O'Rourke. For those who weren't present, Damien consumes an entire bottle of wine during Cheers Darlin' - The collective gasp of the audience results from Damien throwing his birthday cake in Lisa's face at the climax of the song. There then follows a pretty drunken unplugged ensemble rendition of Heaven Belongs To You, featuring Lisa on lead vocal, Damien on ukelele, Vyvienne on Cello and the backing singers of Tomo, Shane, Terry, Declan and Kathryn Williams and her band (the support act).

Katatonia are a Swedish death/doom-metal trio led by guitarist Blackheim. The group's second album, Brave Murder Day, featured Opeth vocalist Mikael Akerfeldt and was their first to be released internationally; Century Media paired it with an out-of-print EP, For Funerals to Come. They consistently released albums throughout the 1990s. Their roster includes Dance of December Souls (1993), Brave Murder Day (1997), Discouraged One (1998), and Tonight's Decision (1999). Last Fair Deal Gone Down appeared in spring 2001.

Was recorded on tour while supporting Opeth & November.
I saw Michel in concert twice…. The first time, was back in late 80’s: He played solo in Ales Cratere theatre, FR. The second time was probably mid 90’s: An exeptional 2 hours concert with his two brothers on bass and guitar ( or Drums) at the Jam in Montpellier, FR. I have the latter on tape back home. Sadly, he died few months later.
"My philosophy," said Michel Petrucciani, "is to have a really good time and never to let anything stop me from doing what I want to do."
This rare concert posted here was taped from the audience at the world famous Pescara Jazz festival in Italy back in the early 80's. The recording is very good quality. I am not too sure who are the drummer and the double bassist on this recording…. please help if you have a clue.

Brand X were a British jazz-rock fusion outfit formed by Genesis drummer Phil Collins and Atomic Rooster guitarist John Goodsall as a side project from their regular groups. Their initial lineup also included keyboardist Robin Lumley and bassist Percy Jones (the Liverpool Scene, the Scaffold). Brand X's debut album, Unorthodox Behaviour, was released in 1976; a live album, Livestock, and the studio effort Moroccan Roll followed in 1977. Collins left the group to concentrate on Genesis, and for 1978's Masques, he was replaced by Al DiMeola drummer Chuck Burghi, as well as additional keyboardist Peter Robinson, who had played with Stanley Clarke. Three further albums -- 1979's Product, 1980's Do They Hurt?, and 1982's Is There Anything About? -- followed before the group disbanded. In 1979, Collins was temporarily free of commitments with Genesis, and re-joined Brand X for the series of recording sessions which would produce two albums, 1979's Product and 1980's Do They Hurt?. These took place at Startling Studios, located in Ringo Starr's countryside home (formerly owned by John Lennon), with two distinct line-ups operating in alternation, as Jones later explained. "Our record and management companies were both complaining about poor record sales and telling us we had to make the music more accessible. Some of the guys agreed to go along with this but I felt that to do this would not generate a new audience but would probably just alienate the one that we already had. The only solution was to have two bands, one being more accessible and the other being more experimental or whatever. For my stuff the line-up was Robinson, Clark, Goodsall and me; for the other direction it was Lumley, Collins and Goodsall with John Giblin on bass. We recorded in shifts, ours was 8pm to 4am and the others 10am to 6pm. How Goodsall managed to do both is still a mystery to me !".

This CD set collects some recordings made by Ted Taylor at the Star Club in Hamburg, probably on December 31st, 1962. This was the final concert given by The Beatles in Hamburg. These recordings were made on a portable machine, so the sound quality is somehow mediocre. However the sound is of better quality than the one from Historic Sessions.

The Castaic Lake show was Porno For Pyros' third live performance. It has also been released a number of times and is not all the rare, nor that high in quality. This particular disc is one of the very first Porno For Pyros bootlegs. There is no track listing or additional artwork in the liner notes, a very bare bones disc.

The Wailers Band was the backing band for Bob Marley from 1974 until his death in 1981. When Bob Marley originally started singing with Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh on the album Catch A Fire and Burnin', they were known simply as The Wailers. After Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh no longer wanted to tour (for their own reasons) Chris Blackwell decided to market Bob Marley as a rock&roll band, and the name was changed to "Bob Marley & The Wailers". The Wailers Band was led by Junior Marvin/Aston Barrett after the death of Bob Marley (May 11, 1981). Today The Wailers Band continues to play live in concert, and in 2006 they played on 311's Summer Unity tour along with Pepper. Their Current lineup includes: Junior Marvin on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Al Anderson on Lead Guitar, Aston "Family Man" Barrett on Bass, Keith Sterling on Keys, Drummie Zeb on Drums, Marcia Griffiths on background vocals (aka Wailers Sister)
