Hellfest: an american Hardcore festival

Hellfest started as a hardcore punk rock music festival during the summer of 1996 in Syracuse, New York. It continued as an annual event until it was recently cancelled in 2005.

The Hellfest was often assimilated with heat, noise, extreme sports, cool people, excellent bands and no annoying indie kids!

The ninth annual Hellfest, a three-day metal and hardcore fest with 180 bands scheduled to perform, was canceled August 17, apparently due to an insurance snafu. The festival was set to take place at Trenton, N.J.'s Sovereign Bank Arena August 19-21 with Hatebreed, Public Enemy, and Killswitch Engage among the headliners. Two days before it was to begin, Sovereign Bank Arena officials announced Hellfest was canceled, saying promoters had failed to secure the proper insurance policy for the enormous event, according to The Trentonian. However, Hellfest organizer Shawn Vander Poehl told the paper the festival was fully covered with the same insurance policy it has used for past events. Vander Poehl said he suspects "someone in city hall didn't want this to happen." A rep for Max Cruise Entertainment, which booked most of the acts, told The Trentonian promoters had not paid advance deposits as scheduled to many of

the acts on the bill. Among the several dozen acts scheduled to perform at the fest were 3 Inches Of Blood, Dead To Fall, Chimaira, Misfits, Sick Of It All, Six Feet Under, Against Me!, Boysetsfire, Pig Destroyer, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Strike Anywhere, The Bouncing Souls, Anti-Flag, As I Lay Dying, From Autumn To Ashes, and Rise Against.
