NOTES:
Compilation made from 2 tapes found recently in my archives. This were extracts from 1FM(!!) broadcasts covering the 3 days events. Artists Comes in order as follow: Babes in Toyland, Stone Temple Pilot, The Breeders, the New order, the The, Madder Rose. There are an average of 3 tracks per band. Some Tracks are faded out. the New Order set is almost complete; I had to remove the first 3 tracks due the bad sound quality… the tape was crying!!!
This bootleg is just a high quality audio transfer off the Japanese laserdisc, Live In Japan, which is a nice high quality show recorded live at Club Citta in Kawasaki, Japan on March 13th of 1990. The laserdisc includes some interview footage before the concert but I'm not sure if it shows up on this audio equivalency.
Track listing: Sweet Bird Of Truth, Armageddon Days Are Here [Again], The Violence Of Truth, Heartland, Angel Of Deception, Infected, Uncertain Smile, Jealous Of Youth, Out Of The Blue [Into The Fire], Beyond Love, The Mercy Beat, Good Morning Beautiful, Flesh And Bones, I've Been Waiting For Tomorrow [All Of My Life], Giant.
FOR THOSE WHO DID NOT KNOW: The The are an English musical and multimedia group that have been around since 1979 in various forms, with Matt Johnson being the only constant band member. Releases are fairly few and far between but over the years The The have sold several million albums internationally and achieved critical acclaim - their 1983 album Soul Mining was voted the third best album of the year by British music magazine Melody Maker (the album featured the song "Uncertain Smile," which at one point was voted the fourth greatest song ever by Australian Triple J radio listeners). During The The's more prolific period of releases, from Soul Mining (1983) to Dusk (1992), most artwork used on the albums and single releases was produced by Matt Johnson's brother Andrew Johnson (Andy Dog Johnson). The artwork has a distinctive style, and sometimes courted controversy, most notably the inital release of the single "Infected" which was withdrawn from sale and re-issued with an edited version of the cover art. Recently, The The have enjoyed a small surge of attention in the United States thanks to an M&M's advertising campaign, which has been using the band's song "This is the Day" as its theme music.
In 1993, BBC radio broadcast a series of tracks from The The's appearance at the 1993 Reading Music Festival in England. Below are the tracks that were broadcast in the order they appeared. This is not necessarily the full track listing for the show and I have no idea whether this broadcast appeared for sale anywhere as a bootleg, but some people have it on cassette.
Track Listing: Heartland, Soul Mining, The Sinking Feeling, Uncertain Smile, Violence Of Truth .
