Urban Classic Project - London Hackney Empire 2006: Hip Hop met classic

5Urban Classic was a meeting of musical cultures that brought together some of the biggest names in UK Hip Hop & grime music with the BBC Concert Orchestra in a ground-breaking live event.

Grime producer DaVinChe and jazz musician Jason Yarde joined forces with conductor Charles Hazlewood, who lead a 36-piece BBC Concert Orchestra alongside several UK grime artists, to create a 70-minute musical suite of grime, hip hop and classical music.

The music was performed live for an audience on Thursday 16 February 2006 at Hackney Empire and was broadcast on 1Xtra Live on Saturday 18 February 2006

Hi !

We are two students in a school of art management in Paris and we have work for the independent french label “Tôt ou Tard”. Their latest discovery is the afrobeat singer Seun Kuti (the youngest son of Fela Kuti), who has released his first album in France on the 28th of april 2008. He will therefore be touring around Europe all summer. During this tour, numerous events will be taking place in England, notably in London.

You can discover his music on http://www.myspace.com/seunkuti
You can also read the attached document, that presents the artist and gives all the details on his tour.

I hope you will enjoy his music and that you will be willing to write an article on your site. If not, we would be very grateful if you agreed to add a link to his myspace.

Thank you very much for keeping me informed of your future actions.

I hope we will very soon be in contact,

Yours sincerely,

Camille Perrot and Lucille Levy
